Nayak, Nayaka, Nayakar, Nayagar, Nayakkar, Naik, Naiker, Naicker, Naickan, Naiken, Nayakkan, Nayan, Nayar, Nayanar, Nair, Naidu, Nayudu or Naidoo is a common title used by various caste and ethnic groups across India. The castes such as Vanniyar, Kapu Rajakambalam(Pedda Kapu) are mostly using this title in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu . In Kerala, the term Nair, Nayar, Nayanar etc. is said to be the adoption of the Sanskrit word Nayaka in Malayalam.
