Cheranmahadevi

Cheranmahadevi is a panchayat town in Tirunelveli district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. Cheranmahadevi is located on the banks of the river Thamirabarani. Cheranmahadevi is located on the right side of the river Thamirabarani. Cheranmahadevi has numerous temples located in it by seeing this after kumbakonam (a city located in Tamil Nadu known as temple city) Cheranmahadevi can be called as a temple city. It has got a central government controlled archaeological temple named Bakthavachala vishnu temple which is considered to be a monument for its medieval carvings referring to the period of chola and pandiya kings. The temple was built in the year 1012-1044 A.D and devotees are allowed to worship on the day called vidhivadha. And then (Canadian canal is first such canal in Thamirabarani river) now the existing one is the third such canal according to report. Cheranmahadevi was under the control of Ambai thaluk and Tirunelveli district. Cheranmahadevi is about 20 km from Tirunelveli either side i.e. bus route and train route. Its present in an important junction from here three routes available from here nagerkovil, Tirunelveli, and tenkasi etc. And then in cheranmahadevi a sub collector office is located which was under the main control of Ambasamudram.
